Hey All,
Below is a little nugget I have been using since I launched episode 1 of my podcast last week. I have also used this tact to simplify meeting minutes. That is, whenever I am part of a serious meeting, I will record the meeting so I can focus on the conversation and not note taking. The sad part is, I then have a super long meeting mp3 file to listen to and at the end of the day, I am not motivated to convert all that to text. Keep in mind, the text to me, adds value because,
- I can then do a keyword search to find the data.
- If you have a public facing site, this is great for search engine optimization (SEO).
- The text meeting minutes are easy to reference the next time y’all meet/can hold folks accountable to their commitments.
So how do we do this? It’s super simple. In my screenshot I will be using Word online. But a similar cadence works for the desktop app.
- Go into any Word file and select the Dictate button
- Select Transcribe
- Select upload audio
- Copy the text to the file!
- By default there won’t be a name. So you will have to manually input that data.
Bonus!
Now that you have the text on the word document, you can use the built-in Editor feature to cleanup the typos and give pointers on tone, etc. You could also paste this text into some type of Generative AI like Chat GPT. But the less clicks the better.
